Welcome to Animal Services

ALERT: There have been confirmed cases of canine influenza in the East Bay. Though Contra Costa Animal Services has not experienced any cases of the virus, we are strongly urging dog owners in the county to take precautions. Please view our informational flyer about canine influenza and consider speaking with your veterinarian about precautions you can take, including vaccinating your dog for canine influenza.

Blog: The 4th and 5th of July are the busiest days of the year at Contra Costa Animal Services. Many pets are frightened by the fireworks and end up in the shelter. Read our blog about how to keep your pets safe during the 4th of July.

Alert: CCAS Temporarily Closed to Feline and Rabbit Intake

Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) is currently not accepting cats and kittens, with the exception of sick or injured cats/kittens (including unweaned kittens) due to lack of available kennel space. We are also not accepting rabbits at this time, with the exception of those that are sick or injured. This protocol will be in effect until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.
